Joey Ryan and the Inks are the kind of band you take home to meet mom, but they just might end up charming her into going shot for shot with them at the bar that night. At first glance, they appear to be cut strictly from the same cloth as Minneapolis darling Jeremy Messersmith, with their refined indie pop replete with lush strings and boyish harmonies, but they can easily bust out of that pigeon hole with, say a spot on cover of '70s proto-punks Television, proving that they didn't just show up to be heartthrobs.
They've just finished up a new music video and were kind enough to let us be the first to share it. Check it out below, and find more of their music for streaming and purchasing here.
Joey Ryan and the Inks will be playing at the pop-up shop on July 1 as part of our Front Row benefit (for PD) event of local music, along with Chastity Brown and Brian Laidlaw. All three acts are just as adept as storytellers as they are musicians, so you'll be getting a double whammy of awesome art in a venue as intimate your living room. But with a bar and no mess to clean up afterwards.
