As some of you writer types may know, November is NaNoWriMo: National Novel Writing Month. A writer type myself, I decided to accept the challenge of NaNoWriMo—write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. NaNoWriMo is really a revolt against writer’s block, a challenge to value quantity over quality long enough to generate some content.
I knew when I decided to take a stab at this writing challenge that I was going to need some help. Enter Write or Die by Dr. Wicked. Write or Die is based on a similar principle as NaNoWriMo—kick writer’s block’s ass by typing fast and furiously, even if you have to trash it or revise it beyond recognition later. If you stop typing the white screen begins to turn pink, then dark pink, light red, then red, and if you still haven’t started typing by then, Dr. Wicked begins to delete one word for every second you continue to hesitate. Needless to say, I have found this tool miraculously effective.
So, if, like me, you are a lover of the art of writing who has been struggling to form a writing habit, give Dr. Wicked a try. If you give him the chance, he’ll whip you into shape in no time.
