ARTIST STATEMENT: Charmagne Coe is an artist who lives in Northern Arizona. She received a Fine Art degree at Northern Arizona University. The initial attraction was to illustration with India ink, and later she turned her direction to pursue a painted quality that could still coexist with simple, free and abstract contour lines. Discovering the luminescence of pastel, she began experimenting. Charmagne now paints in the mediums of watercolor, combined with pastel and various inks. She also continues to build her collection of pen and ink drawings. Her work is concerned with the dialogue of love, nature and spirit. The works convey humanity in a modern world, yet connected to deep mythology and transcendence.
To appreciate Charmagne's use of color, it is wonderful to observe her sketches in black and white.
