Artist Statement: "My constructions combine art and poetry through compositions of painted wood, glass, stamps, and natural material. I reinterpret city poems from poets such as Guillaume Apollinaire, Blaise Cendrars, and Hart Crane. When assembling the work, I reference the poem either in its vibrant atmosphere, complex symbols, or diverse images. I consider textural contrasts that mimic a building's chipping paint or the placement of glass to reenact lights. Phrasing a metropolis through wood and found objects engages a new movement, both artistic and poetic, that transcends the material binds of the city while withdrawing inspiration from it."
